Bogmalo Beach – Introduction & Attractions

Bogmalo beach is clean and not very crowded like Anjuna beach or other beaches in Goa. The water is quite safe for swimming. Basically, Bogmalo beach in Goa was a fishing village until tourists started coming in. Bogmalo beach blends a mixture of serenity and commercialism, splashed with simple beauty. The village at Bogmalo still manages to stay alive inspite of the modern eating joints, hi-tech shops selling handicrafts surrounding it. Bogmalo beach is also situated very close to the airport, the beach is about 18 km from Dabolim Airport and is well-connected by buses, motorcycle taxis, and taxis.
Immediately south of the airport, the Mormugao peninsula's sun parched central plateau tumbles to a flat-bottomed valley lined with coconut trees and redbrick huts. The sandy beach at the end of the cove would be even more picturesque were it not for the monstrous multi-storey edifice perched above it. Until Oberoi erected a huge five star hotel here, Bogmalo was just another small fishing village, hemmed in by a pair of palm fringed headlands at the northern end of Colva bay.
A Former Fishing Village, Today's Tourist Hangout
The village is still present at Bogmalo, complete with a tiny-whitewashed Chapel and gangs of hogs nosing through the rubbish, but its environs have been transformed. Pricey café-bars blaring Western music have crept up the beach, while the clearing below the hotel is prowled by assiduous Kashmiri handicraft vendors.
Even so, compared with Calangute Or Colva, Bogmalo is still a small-scale resort. As long as one hasn't come to Goa to get away from it all or party all night, then one'll find Bogmalo congenial enough. The beach is clean and not too crowded, the water reasonably safe for swimming, and there are plenty of places to eat, drink and shop. If, on the other hand, one is looking for somewhere not yet, on the package tourist map, one'll be better off further south, at the far end of Colva Beach or beyond.
Beauty of Bogmalo Beach
Bogmalo beach in Goa is beautiful in itself. It has been made very beautiful by the Oberois. The hotel was built by Trade Wings. This building is right on the sea. Beyond the building are mysterious little islands, shipwrecks in the silt. Around the hotel there are plenty of pleasant eateries from where one can taste the traditional goan food. There are places where one can take diving lessons while at Goa Bogmalo beach.
Why Goa Bogmalo beach is so special?
Bogmalo beach in Goa is beautiful in itself and many may disagree but it has been made special by the Oberois who manage a property here built by Trade Wings. This building is right on the sea. As the waves lash the parapets of the open-air restaurant, the drone of the restless Arabian Sea lulls to sleep even the most insomniac. This is one attraction which all the tourists eagerly look forward to submit to, though some feel the Oberois have stolen the natural beauty of the beach. Beyond the building are mysterious little islands, shipwrecks in the silt and, around the hotel, plenty of pleasant eateries-each one of them claiming to be Osibisa's favorite. This pardonable selling trick began about 10 years ago when the Oberoi hosted the group.
